The story
Leaves down, it sits against a wall at 22 inches deep. Leaves up, it seats six at a full 60 inches. The rule joints still close as tight as the day they were cut.
We found it with one leaf propped on a brick. The swing-leg hinge had pulled out of the rail, and someone had tried to fix it with drywall screws.
What we did
- Rebuilt the swing-leg hinge in walnut and re-set it with hide glue
- Removed the drywall screws and plugged the holes
- Cleaned and revived the original finish rather than stripping it
- Casters cleaned and freed up
Honest notes
Honest wear along the edges of the leaves, and a few old knife marks on the top that give it character. One plug in the rail shows if you crawl under the table.
